Bus-autorickshaw collision kills man, son in Netrokona

A collision between a bus and CNG-run autorickshaw killed a man and his son and also injured five others including his wife and three children in Sadar Upazila of Netrokona.

The incident happened in the Sakua Bazar area on the Netrokona-Mymensingh road at around 4:30pm on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Abul Hashem alias Alauddin, 45, and his son Boni Amin, 12.

Meanwhile, the injured were Alauddin's wife Rubia Aktar, 40, their daughter Ayesha Aktar, 14, Fatema Aktar, 2, son Adam Ali, 8, and the autorickshaw driver.

According to police and local sources, Alauddin and his family were on the autorickshaw, going to a relative's house in Atpara of Netrokona. The vehicle collided with a Mymensingh-bound bus in the Sakua Bazar area.

Boni Amin died on the spot after the collision. Locals rushed the injured people to the Netrokona District Hospital, and Alauddin died while receiving treatment there. Alauddin's wife and other children were admitted to the hospital. The injured autorickshaw driver escaped after receiving first aid.

Confirming the incident, Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Lutful Haque said the bodies of the deceased are at the hospital. The vehicles involved in the accident were seized. Drivers of both vehicles have escaped.
