Teesta flowing above danger level in Lalmonirhat

The Teesta River has started to swell again with an onrush of water from upstream.

On Thursday, the water level at Teesta River's Dalia Point was flowing 19cm above the danger mark at 9am, confirmed Nur Islam, the official in charge of water level measurement at Dalia Point.

The low-lying areas of Lalmonirhat Hatibandha, Kaliganj, Aditmari, and char areas have been inundated due to Teesta's water level rising.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has opened 44 water gates of Teesta Barrage to control the flow of water.
