Bus-truck head-on collision kills 2 in Natore

Two people were killed and at least 10 injured when a bus and a truck collided head-on at Baraigram of Natore early on Sunday.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Confirming the matter, Jhalmalia Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Munir Hossain said the incident happened at Khejurtola area on the Bonpara-Dhaka Highway around 1:30am.

A Dhaka-bound Shyamoli Paribahan bus from Rahanpur tried to overtake a car in the Khejurtola area and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision damaged the front end of the bus and caused the truck to overturn. Two people died on the spot.

On information, Jhalmalia Highway Police Station and Bonpara Fire Service and Civil Defence members rushed to the spot to conduct rescue operations.

The injured were admitted to the Natore District Hospital and several other hospitals in the Bonpara and Ahmedpur areas. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Jhalmalia Highway Police Station.
