Gas leakage fire burns 3 in Narayanganj

Three people sustained burn injuries when a fire erupted from a gas cylinder leakage in the Deobhog area of Narayanganj Sadar Upazila at around 2:30am on Sunday.

The injured were identified as Md Alam, 35, Md Ramzan, 22, and Rifat, 12, all residents of the Bashmuli area. They were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) in critical condition.

The hospital's resident surgeon Dr Torikul Islam said Alam sustained 72 per cent burn, Ramzan 58 per cent, and Rifat 28 per cent.

Inspector Bachchu Miah, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the person who admitted the three injured people said the fire started from a gas cylinder in their home. The local police station was informed of this matter.

Fatulla Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge said that police members were sent to the spot to learn more about the incident.
