2 children drown in Kurigram

Two children drowned in a canal in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Sabbir Hossain 4, and his niece Iva Moni, 3. The incident happened in the Pathari Bari area of Durgapur union.

According to police and locals, Sabbir and Iva were playing next to the canal. At some point, they fell into the water. Family members started searching for the children.

After some time, Iva's body was found floating on the water. Locals recovered her and Sabbir and rushed them to Kurigram General Hospital, where the duty doctor declared both children dead.

Confirming the incident, Ulipur Police Station Officer in Charge Golam Mortuza said the bodies were handed over to the family.
