Rohingya man shot dead by 'ARSA members' at Ukhiya

Members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) allegedly shot dead a Rohinhya man at Rohingya camp-7 at Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar late on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Selim, 45, son of Mohammad Najir Hossain.

Ukhiya Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed the matter on Sunday morning.

He said, 10-12 alleged ARSA members shot 8-10 rounds of bullet at Selim at around 10:30pm on Saturday. They ran away when the police reached the spot.

Selim was rushed to the local Médecins Sans Frontières /Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was sent to the Cox's Bazar 250-bed District Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
