10 alleged militants detained in Kulaura CTTC drive

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) branch of police has concluded a drive at a house in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar and detained ten alleged militants.

Named 'Operation Hillside,' the drive was carried out from 6:30am to 10:30am on Saturday. Six women and four men were detained during the drive. Three children were also found alongside the detainees.

CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter at a press conference after the drive. He said the detainees are from a new militant group called 'Imam Mahmud Kafela.'

The CTTC also seized a large number of books, 3kg explosives, Tk 3,61,000 and militancy training material from the house.

Only the male detainees were identified. They are Rafik Uddin, Abdul Hafiz, Khairul Islam, and Shariful Islam. It was also found that the female detainees were not members of their families.

Kulaura's Kormoda Union Parishad Chairman Muhibul Islam Azad said the house was surrounded by the CTTC since 8pm on Friday. Later, they started a drive. The newly-made house is located atop a hill in the Baishali Bari area of Tatti Uli village in the union.
