34 Rohingyas rescued, 2 human traffickers held in Cox's Bazar

Police have rescued 34 Rohingyas, including women and children, from Cox's Bazar Central Bus Terminal area. Two human traffickers were also detained at the same time.

Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Md Rafiqul Islam told the Daily Samakal that there are 16 children, 10 women and 8 men among those rescued on Sunday night. The children were all between 1 to 5 years old. They used to live in the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf.

A racket of miscreants was herding the Rohingyas at the bus terminal with the intention of trafficking them. On information, police conducted a drive there. Sensing police presence, 3-4 traffickers fled.

Police gave chase and were able to capture two traffickers named Zobayer and Joynal. Cases were filed against them, said the OC.
