4 killed in Ashuganj road accident

Four people, including a child, died when a covered van ran over a CNG autorickshaw at Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria.

The incident happened in the Sohagpur area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Monday afternoon. Two of the deceased were identified as Md Sohel Miah, 27, and Jilani, 8. Two others could not be immediately identified.

According to police and locals, the CNG autorickshaw was standing still at the Sohagpur bus stand. The Dhaka-bound covered van lost control and ran over the autorickshaw. Three of the autorickshaw's passengers died on the spot, while another died on the way to a hospital.

Sarail Khatihata Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Akul Chandra Bishwas confirmed the matter. He said necessary legal procedures including autopsy, are under way.
