Road accident kills police constable in Gaibandha

A traffic constable died when a truck hit his motorcycle in Gaibandha city on Thursday.

The incident happened at around 6:30am at the city's Puraton Jelkhana Mor Zero Point area. The deceased traffic police constable was identified as Biplab Hossain, 48, Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer in Charge Md Masud Rana confirmed.

According to police and locals, Biplab was on his way to work from his house in Banglabazar. When he reached the Zero Point area, a truck hit his motorcycle. The impact threw Biplab on the road. He died on the spot.

OC Masud Rana said the truck escaped after hitting Biplab. The constable died from critical head injuries.

On information, police recovered the body. Efforts are underway to identify the truck and capture the driver, the OC said.
