Train hits police car, kills 3 in Sitakunda

Three cops were killed and three people were injured when a police car was hit by a train in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Sitakunda Police Station Constable Mohammad Hossain, Mohammad Mizan, And Mohammad Eskandar.

Two of the injured were also cops. They are Sub-Inspector Sujan Sharma and driver Constable Samar Chandra Sarkar. Salimpur Union Ward no 6 member Md Shahadat Hossain was also injured in this incident which happened at around 12:30pm.

According to police and locals, the police vehicle was crossing the train tracks at Salimpur Fakirhat area when the Sonar Bangla Express arrived from Chattogram and hit the car.

Constable Eskandar died on the spot. The other five were taken to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Constable Hossain and Mizan died while undergoing treatment there. Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer in Charge Tofael Ahmed confirmed the matter.
