Body of another man recovered from Sunamganj haor

The body of the second man who went missing after a motorised boat capsized in Matian haor of Tahirpur upazila in Sunamganj was found on Wednesday.

According to police and locals, the body of Foyez Miah, 40, was found floating near Ananda Nagar village, around three kilometres south of the location where the boat capsized. The body was recovered at around 6:30am on Wednesday and was brought to the police station.

Meanwhile, the body of Shah Alam, 35, was found floating in the water at around 10:45am on Tuesday.

Confirming the matter, Tahirpur Police Station Officer in Charge Syed Iftekhar Hossain said the bodies would be handed over to their families after inspection.

According to locals, Foyez Miah and Shah Alam came to Tahirpur Sadar Bazar using a small motorised boat on Sunday. When they were heading back at around 6pm, a storm caused the boat to capsize near the Boalmara Sluice Gate area of the Matian haor.

A boatman saw the incident from the shore and informed others. After the storm passed, locals started searching for Foyez Miah and Shah Alam. Police and fire service joined soon.
