Elderly man missing after boat capsizes in Dhaleshwari

An elderly man went missing after his dinghy boat was hit by an empty bulkhead and capsized in the Dhaleshwari River in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj.

The missing man is Shamsuddin Bepari, 70. The incident occurred near the Fulhar Launch Ghat of Rajanagar Union at around 6am on Sunday.

According to the union's ward no 01 member Md Tyeb Ali and Fulhar Govt Primary School's teacher Moshiur Rahman Russel, Shamsuddin Bepari was rowing the boat crossing the river to collect grass for his cattle at around 6am. An empty bulkhead hit the boat and it drowned along with the elderly man.

Confirming the matter, Sirajdikhan Police Station's Shekharnagar Investigation Centre in charge Sheikh Md Nasir Uddin said the Fire Service and Civil Defence was alerted to conduct a search operation.
