UP chairman, BCL leader dies in Sylhet road crash

A collision between a truck and a motorbike killed two people in the Salutikor area on the Sylhet-Companiganj road.

The deceased were identified as Md Obaidullah Ishak, Sylhet Sadar Upazila's Jalalabad Union Parishad Chairman and Awami League leader, and M Hafizur Rashid, Sylhet District Chhatra League Joint General Secretary and a businessman. They both hailed from Darga Moholla Payra area of Sylhet city.

According to police, the two men were returning to Sylhet city from Companiganj Sadar at around 12:30am on Sunday. A truck collided with their motorbike at the 10-number area next to Salutikor Bazar. Both men died on the spot.

Salutikor Police Investigation Centre in charge Nirmal Chandra Deb said, police have recovered the bodies and sent them to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
