Woman, two sons hacked to death, youngest spared

Police on Tuesday recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children who were hacked to death. The incident happened at Charchhayani Dakkhinpara under Aiyurpur Union in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The deceased were identified as Zeki Aktar, 35, wife of Saudi Arabia migrant Shah Alam, their son Mahin, 14, and Mohin, 7. Police also found their seven-month-old daughter Oziha unharmed from the house.

According to police and eyewitnesses, Zeki Aktar and her three children were the only inhabitants of the house. Their maid came to work at around 9:30am on Tuesday, but Zeki Aktar did not open the door to let her in. The maid took a spare key from Zeki Aktar's sister-in-law who lives next door and entered the premises. She found the main door locked. After that, she told locals who then informed the police.

At around 10am, police broke the door and found the bodies of Zeki Aktar and her eldest son Mahin on the floor. Younger son Mahin's body was found in the bathroom.

Confirming the matter, Bancharampur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Noor-E-Alam said both Zeki Aktar and her eldest son's skulls bore signs of hacking injury.

It is primarily assumed that this was a pre-planned assault carried out around dawn the same day, he added.
