Syed Abul Hossain passes away

Former communications minister Syed Abul Hossain has passed away in the early hours of Wednesday. He was 72.

He died due to heart attack at United Hospital in Dhaka, said Syed Sakhawat Hossain, nephew of Abul Hossain, and Dasar Upazila Awami League convener.

Syed Abul Hossain was born in Madaripur in 1951. In 1991, he won the fifth national parliamentary election and was elected as a member of parliament. He then served as a Member of Parliament in the seventh, eighth and ninth parliamentary elections. From 2009 to 2012, he served as the Minister of Communications of the Awami League government.

He was very popular for his social services in his area.
