Bus torched in Gazipur

Miscreants have set fire to a public bus in the Shafipur area of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur. The incident happened at around 4am on Monday. Members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence arrived to douse the fire.

The bus drive Habibur Rahman said, the KP Paribahan bus starts from Konabari of Gazipur early every morning and carries workers to a factory in the Kalampur area of Kaliakair. On Monday morning, 4-5 youths ran to the bus and got on it. They then doused the bus in petrol and set fire to it.

Kaliakair FSCD station official Md Rayhan said most of the bus interior and its front part got damaged in the fire by the time the FSCD managed to put it out.

The miscreants will be identified and arrested, said Kaliakair Police Station Officer in Charge Akbar Ali Khan.
