Indian couple killed in Satkhira road accident

A head-on collision between a truck and a private car has killed two Indian nationals. The accident happened in front of the BGB office at Satkhira's Taltola area at around 8am on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Asim Kumar Biswas, 45, from Shiliguri, and his wife Chhobi Biswas, 42, from Karimpur.

Rafikul Islam Sajib, the driver, was critically injured in the accident. He's a resident of Fulbari in Khulna.

According to locals, the car was headed toward Satkhira from Khulna. In the Taltola area, the car collided head-on with a Khulna-bound truck. The two passengers died on the spot. The driver was rescued and rushed to the Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

Confirming the matter, Satkhira Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Md Saifuzzaman said the bodies were sent to the morgue.

Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer in Charge Mohidul Islam said Asim Biswas was working as the deputy manager at the Khulna-Mongla railway line project. The couple had planned to travel to India through the Bhomra land port.
