Constable dead, police car crushed under train in Jamalpur

A patrolling police car was crushed under the wheels of a train at the Shekhervita level crossing area in Jamalpur city, killing a police constable and injuring another.

A mail train from Dhaka headed towards Dewanganj hit the patrolling police car. The vehicle was thrown onto the street and damaged heavily. One police constable died on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Jamalpur Railway Police Officer in Charge Mahbubur Rahman said the incident happened at around 4am on Sunday.

The deceased constable was identified as Ahsan Habib. The other constable, Ariful Islam, was critically injured. He was admitted to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Constable Ahsan Habib's body was recovered and sent to the hospital morgue; the OC added.
