Clashes at Rohingya camps leave 3 dead

Three Rohingyas lost their lives and two others were injured in clashes in the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar on Tuesday night.

The incidents took place at Ukhiya No. 17 Madhurchhara and Jamtali No. 15 camps around 2 am.

The deceased - Abul Kasem, Md Zobair and Md Joynal - are residents of different camps in Ukhiya.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Ukhiya Police Station Inspector (OC Investigation) Nashir Uddin Majumder.

He said that ARSA and RSO took a position face to face in Ukhiya No. 17 Madhurchhara and Jamtali Camp No. 15 at night. At one point, there was a shooting incident between the two sides, leaving three of them dead on the spot.

The OC also said that it was initially reported that the shootings took place between two terrorist groups of Rohingyas centring the spread of dominance in the camps. Still, inquiries are being made as to who and what caused these incidents. The operation to arrest the terrorists is continuing.
