OCs' withdrawn over negligence

Citing allegations of negligence, the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of Shailkupa police station of Jhenaidah and Harinakunda police station of Jashore have been withdrawn.

Election Commission (EC) Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath disclosed the matter in a press conference held at the Election Commission office in the city's Agargaon on Saturday.

"They were withdrawn as their laxity has been proven beyond the reasonable doubts. We have given show-cause notices to many as we received allegation reports against them. We will take action according to the recommendations of the inquiry team," he said.

While replying to the queries of journalists, he also said, "Appropriate measures will be taken against officers not doing their duties properly. Also, if any kind of complaint comes to the Election Commission, or if any evidence related to negligence in duty is found, action will be taken after proper investigation."
