Ferry services resume after 7.5 hours

The ferry movement disrupted for poor visibility due to dense fog resumed after 7.5 hours on the Aricha-Kazirhat route in the river Jamuna and Paturia- Daulatdia routes on the Padma early on Sunday, sources at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said.

Dense fog and precipitation caused BIWTC to suspend ferry movement on both routes at around 3am on Sunday. Meanwhile, two ferries named Bhasha Shahid Barkat and Madhabi Lata were stuck mid-river on the Paturia- Daulatdia route.

BIWTC Aricha office AGM Abdus Salam said the ferry movement on both routes resumed at around 10:30am after the fog dissipated.
