Freight train derails in Tongi

Five compartments of a freight train from Dhaka have derailed in Tongi of Gazipur. No casualties were reported in this incident.

Confirming the matter, Tongi Railway Police In Charge SI Chhoton Sharma said the train derailed ahead of the Tongi rail bridge at around 10am on Monday. Five compartments of the train went off the tracks.

Work is underway to recover the compartments. Train movement in the area is being conducted through the downline.
