RMG workers block Dhaka-Aricha Highway to demand raise

RMG workers of the Noyadingi Rising Spinning Mill in Saturia blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Highway to demand a wage hike on Tuesday, halting traffic for around 3 hours in the morning.

According to the RMG workers, they are demanding wages as per the government's new wage structure. Their demonstration started at around 8am. At around 11am, the mill owners discussed the matter with the workers in the presence of police. After this, the workers moved away from the highway, and traffic was restored to normal.

Meanwhile, the owners claimed that the spinning mill is not a type of RMG factory, so there is no question of implementing the new wage structure here.

Confirming the matter, Golra Highway Police Officer in Charge Sukhendu Bosu said he came to the spot after learning about the situation. A discussion between the workers and the owners was arranged to bring the situation under control.
