2 dead as heavy fog leads to pickup-autorickshaw collision

Dense fog caused a head-on collision between a pickup van and an autorickshaw in Bogura early on Wednesday. The collision killed two and injured two others.

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway's Nowdapara of Bogura Sadar upazila at around 7:45am. The deceased were identified as the autorickshaw driver Moklesur Rahman, 55, and passenger Rafiqul Islam, 50. The two injured were also passengers of the autorickshaw.

Bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families. The injured were admitted to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

Confirming the matter, Kundarhat Highway Police Station Officer in Charge Abbas Ali said the accident occurred due to dense fog in the area. Two people died on the spot. After the collision, the pickup van driver and his helper fled. However, the pickup was seized.
