Bus-truck collision kills 1, injures 12

A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a rod-laden truck has killed the truck driver and injured at least a dozen people in Bogura.

The deceased was identified as Emran Hossain, 21, son of Abdus Sattar of Konail village under Naogaon Sadar.

According to police and locals, the accident happened in front of the Adamdighi Upazila Hospital on the Naogaon-Dhaka Highway at around 6:30am on Tuesday. A Dhaka-bound Shah Fateh Ali bus collided head-on with the truck, damaging the front parts of both vehicles. Emran died on the spot.

Three of the injured were in critical condition. They were admitted to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura. The others were given first aid at the Adamdighi Hospital.

Adamdighi Police Station Officer in Charge Rajesh Kumar Chakrabarti said the vehicles involved in the crash were seized by the police.
