Truck-pickup collision kills 3 in Tarakandi

Three people died in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Tarakanda of Mymensingh on Tuesday.

The accident happened in the Taldighi area on the Sherpur-Mymensingh road at around 7:30am.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the crash happened in dense fog between a pickup van from Sherpur and a truck going in the opposite direction. One person died on the spot. Two others were rushed to a local hospital where the doctor declared them dead.

The three deceased were all on board the pickup van, including the driver Kamrul Islam, 22, and passengers Abdul Kadir, 45, and Mizanur Rahman, 48.

Confirming the matter, Tarakanda Police Station Officer in Charge Wazed Ali said both of the vehicles were seized and brought to the police station. The truck driver fled. It is primarily assumed that dense fog caused the accident.
