4 killed after BRTC bus runs over van

Four passengers of a van were killed when a BRTC bus ran over the vehicle in Chirirbandar of Dinajpur on Tuesday morning.

Confirming the matter, Chirirbandar Police Station Officer in Charge Abul Hasnat Khan said the deceased are - Nazrul Islam Nazu, 45, Abdul Mazid, 50, Natta Yang Chakma, 52, and Saingo Chakma, 45.

According to police and eyewitnesses, a van with four passengers was waiting next to the road at the Ranirbandar Bazar. A BRTC bus (Dhaka Metro Bo-15-5493) from Dinajpur ran over the van. All four passengers died on the spot.

Around 7-8 people were critically injured in the collision, and they were admitted to different hospitals in the area.

Police have seized the bus, but the driver and helper managed to escape.
