Road accident kills 5 in Cumilla

A head-on collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a goods-laden covered van has killed Five people in the Daudkandi area of Cumilla.

The accident happened in the Mohanondo area on the Gouripur-Kachua road at around 10am on Sunday.

All five deceased were passengers of the autorickshaw. They are - Pizush Mondol, 28, Jahanara Begum, 35, Shofiullah, 24, Monir, 35, and Ismail, 38.

Confirming the matter, Daudkandi Model Police Station Officer in Charge Mozammel Haque said the collision occurred between a Kachua-bound covered van and a Gouripur-bound autorickshaw. The bodies were taken to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.

The truck driver fled the scene right after the collision, he added.
