Fire breaks out at S. Alam Refined Sugar Mill in Chittagong

A fire broke out at the S. Alam Refined Sugar Mill in Chittagong's Karnaphuli Upazila around 4:00pm on Monday.

Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defense Abdul Malek told the media that three units of Karnaphuli Model Fire Station and Chandanpura Fire Station were trying to put out the blaze.

However, the fire was not brought under control till 5:30pm. 

Heavy smoke in the building made it difficult for firefighters to work, Malek added.

So far, no casualty was reported in the fire incident.

Officials of Karnaphuli police station, upazila administration moved to the spot.
