One gets life-term in drug case in Chapainawabganj

A Chapainawabganj court on Thursday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drug case.

Senior Sessions Judge Md. Adeeb Ali gave this verdict in presence of the convict.

The convicted was Raju, 21, son of Mofizul Islam of Rasulpur village under Shibganj upazila of the district.

The court also fined him Taka 50,000, in default, he will have to suffer one-year more in jail.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, acting on a tip-off, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid in Baliadighi area under Shibganj upazila on January 21, 2021 and arrested Raju with 195 pieces of Buprenorphin injection.

Sub-inspector (SI) Hafizur Rahman of RAB-5 filed a case with Shibganj Thana against the accused on the same day.

Investigating Officer (IO) of the case SI Md. Nurul Islam submitted charge-sheet against him on March 19, 2021.

After hearing the witnesses and examining other relevant evidence, the court handed down the punishment.
