Five of a family electrocuted in Moulvibazar

Five members of a family, including three children, died, and another child was severely injured from electrocution in Purba Goalbari village under Juri upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Foizur Rahman, 50, his wife Siri Begum, 45, daughters Samia Begum, 15, Sabina Akter, 9, and son Sayem Uddin, 7, residents of Purba Goalbari village of the upazila.

Sonia, 12, another daughter of the deceased couple, was injured in the incident. 

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Juri Police Station SM Mainuddin said the incident took place after an electric wire fell on their house due to heavy rain and storm early in the morning. 

Injured Sonia was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, he said. 

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and handed them over to the family members, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Saroare Alam said.
