Two siblings drown in Noakhali pond

Two siblings drowned in a pond at Rameshwapur village of Chaprashirhat union under Kabirhat upazila of the district of Noakhali on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Bibi Fatema Begum, 7, and her brother Abid Hossain, 4, children of Abdul Hai, resident of the same area, said Chaprashirhat Union Parishad Chairman Mohiuddin Titu.

Locals said the two children died after falling into the pond next to their house while washing their hands and faces around 8am.

They were rescued and taken to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kabirhat Police Station Humayan Kabir said.
