Road accident kills two in Madaripur

At least two people including a driver of a local cargo vehicle Mahindra were killed and two others injured as it overturned at Madaripur Sadar upazila on Monday morning. 

The deceased were identified as driver Enamul Hossen, 25, son of Sarafat Ali Mira hailed from Lahuria of Lohagara upazila under Narail district and his helper Arif Sikder, 17, son of Anwar Sikder from Maddyachak of Madaripur Sadar upazila.

"Two people including the driver of the Mahindra died on the spot while the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch in Pakhira area of the Sadar upazila around 7:30 am", said AHM Salauddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station.

Locals said driver Enamul and his helper Arif took the vehicle on the road from the garage and started moving. But, at one stage, the driver suddenly lost control of the wheel, causing it to fall into the roadside ditch, killing the duo on the spot.

The accident also injured two pedestrians.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the district hospital morgue for autopsies.
