Two UPDF members shot dead in Rangamati

Two members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) have been shot dead by miscreants at Langadu upazila of the hilly district of Rangamati on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Bidya Dhan Chakma alias Tilok, 45; and Dhanyamoni Chakma, 35.

Officer-in-Charge of Langadu Thana Md Harunur Rashid said they were shot to death in an attack supposed to be carried out by their rivals in Bhaledi Ghat area of the upazila at 9am.

The security has been beefed up in the area, he added.

However, Shachal Chakma, UPDF Rangamati district unit organizer, blamed the Shantu Larma-led Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) for the attack.
