Tk 5cr seized from Amir Hossain Amu's residence

Nearly Tk 5 crore including foreign currency was seized from the residence of Jhalokathi-2 constituency member of parliament Amir Hossain Amu. 

Amir Hossain Amu's residence on the city's Ronalse Road was vandalized on Monday. Enraged people also set fire to the house, which was later brought under control by the fire service. 

However, locals again detected fire in the house at around Monday midnight. On information, firefighters entered the house. While trying to douse the fire with water, bundles of money were detected. Firefighters disclosed the matter to the district authority. Later, police and army members came to recover the money. 

Confirming the matter, Jhalokathi Fire Service Station Master Md Shafiqul Islam said, a lot of blankets on the third floor of the house were burning. While trying to douse the fire, some bundles of money spilt out. Later, some luggage was also found.

About Tk 1 crore was recovered from an undamaged suitcase, while Tk 2.77 crore was recovered from a partially burnt suitcase. Meanwhile, nearly Tk 1 crore worth of foreign currency was also found, police and army members confirmed.
