Case filed against Dipu Moni, 1,500 other AL leaders

A case was filed against 510 people including former social welfare minister and Awami League leader Dipu Moni in connection with vandalism and arson at a BNP leader's house and office in Chandpur. 1,200 other unnamed people were also included in the case. 

Confirming the matter, Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mohammad Muhsin Alam said Chandpur City's Munira Bhaban's manager Selim Miah filed the case. 

Other than Dipu Moni, her elder brother J R Wadud, Chanpur District Awami League general secretary Abu Naim Patwari, and Chandpur Municipality Mayor Jillur Rahman, among others, were also named in the case. 

According to the case documents, Chandpur District BNP president Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik's house Munira Bhaban in Chandpur City was attacked at around 7pm on 18 July. Attackers used locally made weapons to loot, vandalise, and set fire to the house. His party office was also vandalised. 

At the time of the attack, Sheikh Farid Ahmed was abroad for medical treatment. An estimated Tk 2.5 crore worth of properties were damaged in the attacks.
