Rangamati students hold protests

Students of Rangamati held a protest in protest of graffiti erasure and obstruction in Rangamatil, as well as in demand of constitutional rights as Indigenous people, on Friday. 

The protest was held in front of the office of the District Commissioner under the banner of Indigenous Students' Community. More than a thousand students from various Upazilas of the district took part in the protest. 

Rangamati Government College's student Kiko Dewan presided over the protest, while Usai Mong Marma, Kychinu Marma, Noboshish Chakma, and Chikko Talukdar also spoke. Earlier, a procession also marched through the city's main roads. 

Speakers condemned the obstruction to paint graffiti and the erasure of such graffiti. They also called for erasing discrimination from the hill tracts. 

On 12 August, members of law enforcement agencies prevented students from drawing graffiti and detained one student, who was later released.
