More than 200 tourists stranded in Sajek

The Machalong and Baghaihat areas of the Sajek-Baghaihat Road in Rangamati became inundated due to heavy rain, causing more than 200 tourists to become stranded. 

However, Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer has claimed that the number of stranded tourists is more than 250. 

Machalong and Baghaihat areas became inundated due to heavy rain and an onrush of water from the upstream. Traffic has completely halted on the Sajek-Baghaihat Road. 

Sajek Hillview Cottage owner Indra Chakma said the water level might not recede today. As per Sajek Cottage-Resort Samiti's rules, the tourists will be given discounts on room fares. 

Baghaichhari UNO Shirin Akhtar said, tourists will be brought back after water recedes from the roads.
