Flood halts Dhaka-Ctg rail link

Rail communication on Dhaka-Chattogram routes has been suspended as sections of rail tracks went under floodwater.

"The flood has forced us to cancel movement of all trains from Dhaka to Chattogram and Chattogram to some other routes," Sardar Shahadat, director general of Bangladesh Railway, told BSS.

He said railway tracks in the Feni area were submerged by floodwater.

According to the control room of the Bangladesh Railway (Ctg Division), stones and soil have been washed away from the tracks.

It said two trains had to return to Chattogram from the Feni area by noon on Thursday.

Besides, flood water disrupts traffic on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
