Fire erupts on oil tanker at Patenga

A massive fire erupted on an oil tanker named "Banglar Jyoti" at the Patenga of Chattogram on Monday morning. 

The tanker is an old vessel owned by the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) which was anchored at the Dolphin Jetty area of Eastern Refinery on the Karnaphuli River. 

The oil-laden tanker reached the jetty at around 11am. An explosion occurred while the oil was being unloaded, which started the fire. 

A total of eight units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, as well as members of the Navy and Air Force, are now working to control the blaze.
