Fire kills 6 family members in Sunamganj

A fire that broke out at an Ashrayan Project house at Sunamganj's Dharmapasha Upazila has killed six members of the same family. Four of them were children. 

The fire broke out at around 12:30am on Tuesday at the Shimer Khal area of the Joyoshri Union. The doors and windows of the house were all locked from the inside during the incident. 

According to police and eyewitnesses, fire and smoke alerted the neighbours around 12:30am. They were unable to enter the house and soon the house was razed to the ground. 

The deceased were identified as Emarul, 50, his wife Poly Akhtar, 45, their children Polash, 9, Farhad, 7, Fatema Begum, 5, and Omar Faruq, 3. 

Confirming the matter, Dharmapasha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohamad Giasuddin said an investigation is underway into this incident. The fire did not spread to the neighbouring houses.
