Fire at Barishal medical under control, patients evacuated

A fire which broke out at the Medicine Bhaban of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College in Barishal was brought under control on Sunday. 

The fire broke out at around 9:15am on the ground floor of the hospital's Medicine Bhaban. Seven units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) worked to bring the fire under control at around 10:30am. 

Eyewitnesses, fire service, and hospital authority said the fire might have started from an electrical short-circuit at the storeroom. The fire quickly spread to the bedding kept in the storeroom, producing copious smoke and fire. 

On information, members of the FSCD rushed to the hospital and tried to bring the fire under control. Patients and their attendants became panicked because of the fire and smoke. FSCD members evacuated patients from the affected building and moved them to the main building of the hospital. No casualties were reported in the incident so far.
