Auto-rickshaw driver killed in Lakshmipur road accident

An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and another injured when a truck hit the auto-rickshaw in Joksin Bazar under Sadar upazila of Laxmipur.

The deceased was identified as Abu Taher, 50, son of Aziz Ullah, resident of Laharkandir under Sadar upazila of the district.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Md. Abdul Monnaf said the accident occurred in the area when they were going to Joksin Bazar on a battery-run auto rickshaw. On the way, a truck hit the battery-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at around 4am, leaving the duo seriously injured.

The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital, where an on-duty doctor declared Abu Taher dead, the OC said.

Another seriously injured person was taken to Noakhali General Hospital for better treatment.
