Rickshaw pullers clash with police in Jatrabari

Rickshaw pullers blocked the Doyaganj intersection in Jatrabari on Wednesday, demanding to operate battery-run rickshaws on main roads. They engaged in a clash with police at one point, injuring two cops. 

This incident happened a day after the High Court ordered the authority to free Dhaka from battery-run autorickshaws. 

Confirming the matter, Jatrabari Police Station Officer in Charge Md Faruq Ahmed said the blockade caused intense traffic jams in the area. Police asked them to move from the road, but they attacked the police instead. Two police members were injured in the clash. They are receiving treatment at a hospital.
