Barrister Sumon on 2-day remand

A court has placed former lawmaker Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon on a two-day remand in a case lodged over an attack on students and people during the anti-discrimination student-led mass upsurge.

He was brought to the Chunarughat Police Station on Friday morning for interrogation, the case's investigation official Liton Roy said. Sumon may be sent to jail on Sunday. 

Barrister Sumon was arrested from the capital's Mirpur-6 area on 21 October.
