10 tourists injured in Sajek road crash

Ten tourists were injured when a jeep overturned and fell into a ditch on their way back from Sajek Tourism Centre in Hauz Para of Sajek in Rangamati on Saturday morning.

Confirming the accident, Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kanak Sarkar said that the injured had gone to Sajek from Dhamrai and Savar of Dhaka and Brahmanbaria for a trip.

Four of the injured, Zakir, Arfan, Sabuj, Saiful, and Ujjwal, are in critical condition. The identities of the others injured are not yet known.

Kanak Sarkar said that the tourists were returning to Khagrachhari by a jeep in the morning after their trip to Sajek. Suddenly, the vehicle overturned and fell into a ditch about 30 feet below the road, leaving 10 tourists in the vehicle injured.

Later, army members rescued the injured and sent them to Khagrachhari District Sadar Hospital.
