Three-way collision in Madhabpur kills 4

A three-way collision between a microbus, a pickup van, and a dump truck killed four, including a child, at Madhabpur of Habiganj early on Wednesday. The accident also injured five others.  

The four deceased were identified as- 11-months-old Raisa, Fazilatunnesa, Pavel Miah, 20, and Riad Miah.

According to relatives of the deceased, Abu Hanif from the Rampur village under Bulla Union of Madhabpur Upazila, along with his mother Safia Khatun, relatives Fazilatunnesa, Manik Miah, his wife Ruma Khatun, and their daughter Raisa were returning home after completing the Umrah. Riad Miah and driver Pavel Miah were bringing them back from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a microbus. 

When the microbus reached Barogharia near Madhabpur, it collided head-on with a sand-laden dump truck. Right after that, a pickup van also hit the microbus and turned over. This incident killed Fazilatunnesa, Riad Miah, and Raisa on the spot. Pavel Miah succumbed to his injuries when he was being rushed to a hospital.  

Confirming the matter, Khatiyata Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Md Margub Touhid told the Daily Samakal that police had seized all three vehicles involved in the accident. However, drivers of the dump truck and pickup van have fled.
