JU student 'commits suicide' while on video call

A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has reportedly committed suicide in her residential room at Bir Protik Taramon Bibi Hall of the university. 

Deceased Takia Tasnim was a first-year student of the Geography and Environment department. 

Eyewitnesses said Takia hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room on Sunday at 5:30 am following a disagreement with her friend. She was allegedly on a video call with the aforementioned friend at the time. 

Later, she was found unconscious, hanging from a fan in the room, and taken to the University's medical centre, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Confirming the matter, Ashulia Police Station Officer in Charge Abu Bakar Siddique said the body was recovered and kept at Savar Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College Hospital. Legal measures will be taken after discussing with her family.
