Death toll rises to 3 in Gazipur factory fire

The number of deaths in a massive fire at a button factory in Gazipur has risen to three as of Monday morning, Sripur Police Station Officer in Charge Joynal Abedin Mondol confirmed. 

He said a team from the police station was sent to recover the body. Details about the deceased will be shared later. 

Among the three deceased, the identity of one was found. His name is Mojlum Miah, son of Bablu Miah. He is a resident of Lalmonirhat. 

Two other bodies were found late on Sunday, Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Mamun confirmed. It is assumed that they died in the initial explosion which caused the fire. 

The blaze started at a button factory named M&U Trims Limited at Bhangnahati village of Gazipur's Sripur Municipality at around 2pm on Sunday. 

The origin of the fire and the extent of damage could not be confirmed.
